Asian Fagaceae Identification Sheets and Propagation Protocols
[Updated March 2026] In the scope of our Franklinia Foundation-funded project Conservation and range restoration of ten threatened Fagaceae species in Laos and Vietnam we are pleased to release the first Identification Sheets for ten threatened Asian Fagaceae in English, Lao and Vietnamese language below.
Our project will run from 2025-2027, entails setting up (field)nurseries, propagation trials, community training and engagement, and the replanting of ten threatened Fagaceae native to Laos and Vietnam in selected conservation zones. The project will also establish ex situ collections, contributing to the development of a metapopulation infrastructure for tropical Asian Fagaceae. In due course, the Identification Sheets will be accompanied with matching Propagation Protocols, set for release here and on project partner websites.
